The conference is paired with two other exciting events:

On Friday, the University of Minnesota HRIR program is also hosting its annual professional HR conference HR Tomorrow. This event attracts over 300 HR professionals and includes keynote and breakout sessions. The Innovative Teaching conference and HR Tomorrow will follow a common timetable to allow conference attendees to crossover to the HR Tomorrow conference. This will provide unique opportunities for HR instructors to network with and attend presentations by HR professionals. The theme for HR Tomorrow 2008 is "The Business of HR: Creating Competitive Advantage Through People."

On Friday night, there will be a retirement dinner for University of Minnesota Professors John Fossum, Mahmood Zaidi, and Jim Scoville. This special evening will pay tribute to their more than 100 years of combined contributions to human resources and industrial relations. This dinner will not be part of the registration fee, so conference attendees are also welcome to meet up with friends and go to one of the Twin Cities' many fine restaurants for dinner.
